August 1896: Klondike Gold Rush Begins
116 years ago this week, the Klondike Gold Rush began after gold was discovered in northwest Canada. Approximately 30,000 of the “stampede” of 100,000 people arrived at the Klondike region and only 4,000 actually found gold.
